SRTA completes plan to develop emirate's squares to intersections

Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has completed its strategic plan aimed at developing the emirate’s fields and transforming them into intersections governed by light signals, to include this stage the development of the fields of Sheikh Majid bin Saqr Al Qasimi and Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, and converting them into two sectors at a cost of 103 million dirhams. Projects are completed in the first quarter of 2021.

His Excellency Engineer Yousef Saleh Al Suwaiji, Chairman of the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, stated that the project comes within the Authority’s development plan, and to complete all its accomplishments in previous years, including the first stage of converting the emirate’s fields into intersections, and it is also considered part of the goals of the Emirate’s strategic plan, which came in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

He pointed out that converting the squares into intersections controlled by traffic lights is one of the integrated solutions that the authority relies on to reduce the problems of traffic jams, and achieve its vision in providing a safe and smooth traffic path.
