Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority has announced a temporary partial closure and traffic diversion on Al Taawun Street as part of the Al Taawun Tunnel Development Project at the location of the existing roundabout. The project forms part of the Authority’s efforts to enhance road network efficiency and improve traffic flow across the Emirate.

Under the approved traffic diversion plan, vehicles heading towards Dubai and Al Nahda Bridge will be redirected via Al Corniche Street. In addition, vehicles travelling from Al Nahda Bridge towards Sharjah will be diverted to the new Al Taawun Street, in accordance with the alternative routes illustrated in the attached traffic plan.

The traffic diversion will come into effect on Saturday, 13 June 2026.

This measure is part of the project’s implementation phase, which aims to upgrade infrastructure and improve traffic movement in the area, helping accommodate increasing traffic volumes and enhance the mobility experience for road users.

The Authority urges motorists to adhere to the approved traffic diversions and directional signage, use the designated alternative routes, and follow traffic safety instructions to ensure their safety, maintain smooth traffic flow, and reach their destinations safely and without delay.
