Developing the Sharjah Ring Road by Initiating New Pathways

Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA ) has accomplished The Sharjah Ring Road Revamp Project, towards Sheikh / Mohammed Bin Zayed Road by increasing the number of traffic lanes to reach a total of 4 lanes.

This came in line with steps taken towards attaining smooth traffic flow, increasing the road capacity to accommodate vehicles, as well as decreasing traffic congestion, in keeping with the sage directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, the member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

The project is also came in close line with the constant efforts of His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, The Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Executive Council of Sharjah, and his constant attention and directions to advance and diversify the road networks pursuant to the upmost international safety standards to realize sustainable development.

According to Eng. Yousef Khamis Muhammad Al Alathmani the Chairman of the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, the road efficiency enhancement projects executed by the Authority, constitute a major part of its strategy aiming to advance and improve the quality of roads crosswise the Emirate by constantly devising new traffic solutions and restless efforts to attain the utmost levels and superlative outcomes in road services.

His Excellency indicated that, throughout the former period, the Authority has applied a package of development projects with the objective of promoting the efficiency of roads in the Emirate, by developing new routes, generating a qualitative leap and attaining smooth and streamlined traffic in the numerous internal and external roads, in confirmation of its well-founded vision to realize sustainable roads, supporting the outlooks and aspirations of the Sharjah Government in prompting and enhancing the Emirate stance by the construction of roads that meet the premier international quality standards to stay a breast with the series of development projects flourished in the Emirate.

His Excellency explained that the project comprised the increase of the capacity and efficiency of the Sharjah Ring Road towards Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, by initiating a new traffic lane at a length of 1.10 km and a width of 3.65 meters, as well as a new shoulder hard at a width of 2.50 meters.

The new lane was linked initially from the Nahda exit towards Dubai in order to streamlining the entrance to the Emirate.

Whereas, another new traffic lane at a length of 1.70 km and a width of 3.65 meters was initiated, in addition to a shoulder hard at a width of 2.50 meters, with the objective of linking it to the exit leading to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road.

Eng. Al Alathmani confirmed that the project had a constructive effect on the traffic flow, decreasing accidents as well as eliminating congestion during the peak hours. He noted that all of the Authority engineering and technical teams are devising and developing proactive plans with the aim of improving road efficacy and carrying out wide-ranging traffic improvements throughout the several cities and regions of the Emirate, targeting to realize a safer and more secure traffic environment.
