In implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at developing infrastructure and enhancing the efficiency of the road network across the Emirate, the Initiatives Implementation Authority and the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority have commenced the development of new traffic corridors to strengthen connectivity with the Emirate of Dubai.
The project is being implemented in coordination with the Sharjah Urban Planning and Survey Department, Sharjah Police General Headquarters, Sharjah City Municipality, Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, e&, and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du), ensuring integrated efforts and efficient project delivery in accordance with the highest engineering standards.
The development includes a comprehensive upgrade of the Al Taawun Roundabout corridor extending to Al Nahda Bridge and onward to Dubai, in addition to the enhancement of Al Khan Street and its connection to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
The project aims to improve connectivity between Sharjah’s central districts, particularly Al Buhairah and Al Taawun, and the newer urban developments along Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, while also strengthening major transport links with Dubai. This will contribute to smoother traffic flow, reduced travel times, and support sustainable urban and economic growth.
The project reflects Sharjah’s vision of developing advanced infrastructure that keeps pace with the Emirate’s rapid growth, enhances quality of life, and supports a sustainable and integrated mobility network.
